Standards of Learning Test Results/Pass Rates
NEWS RELEASE
For Immediate Release RE: STANDARDS OF LEARNING TEST RESULTS/PASS RATES The results released today by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) for the 2014-15 Standards of Learning (SOL) tests clearly indicate that Richmond Public Schools continues to make progress overall. In particular, we are pleased to see the positive strides made by our students in mathematics (seven point increase vs. 2013-14), reading (six point increase) and history (two point increase). The scores in science, while the same as last year, are also up three points when compared to 2012-13. Nevertheless, the fact that scores went down in writing (eight point decrease) shows that opportunities for improvement remain. These results further underscore the importance of the Academic Improvement Plan we have designed to facilitate the acceleration of student progress for all groups in Richmond Public Schools. Our school district looks forward to fully implementing the Plan this school year and helping our students improve their academic performances so they can meet or exceed academic standards in the years ahead.
