RPS Seeks Public Comment on Draft 2015-2016 Calendar
Richmond Public Schools (RPS) is seeking public comment on the proposed calendars for the 2015-2016 school year.
- The proposed Nine Teacher PD Days calendar reflects RPS’ dedication to investing in the professional development of teachers. It proposes to standardize the school day and school year for teachers by adding five (5) days for professional development in the beginning of the school year and four (4) days at the end of the school year.
- The proposed standardization of the school day and school year will provide more time for professional development (200-225 minutes/ 3.3 to 3.75 hour/wk) during the week and year with the intent to support teacher and staff professional development.
- Nine days for professional development (9 days/72 hours/4320 minutes) annually
- By standardizing the school day and year, RPS will be in compliance with the VA Code 22.1-302
Comments should be submitted by March 9 via email at pupilpersonnelservices@richmond.k12.va.us or during the School Board’s Public Information Period.
