RPS Schedules Community Meetings to Discuss Proposed Start Times for Schools

WHAT: Richmond Public Schools will hold four community meetings to receive feedback and share information regarding the proposed changes in school start times as part of the Academic Improvement Plan.

At its January 5 meeting, the Richmond City School Board received and approved an Academic Improvement Plan comprised of many proposed enhancements that will improve teaching and learning within the district. A component of that plan includes a recommendation to change the start times for district schools.

The change in the school day, as proposed, is:

Elementary schools 8:00 AM – 2:50 PM
Middle schools 8:30 AM – 3:20 PM
High schools 9:00 AM – 3:50 PM
